Paradox - Kenya Muranga AA
The New Kiriti Farmers Cooperative Society brings together over 560 smallholder farmers across Muranga, an elevated and fertile region renowned for producing some of Kenya’s most expressive coffees. The cooperative follows a rigorous approach to sustainability and quality control, ensuring that only the highest-quality cherries make it through each stage of processing. Cherries are handpicked at peak ripeness and pulped on the same day to preserve acidity and clarity.
Fermentation takes place in open-air concrete tanks for 24–48 hours, developing depth and structure. After this stage, the parchment is washed thoroughly and submerged in clean water for an extended 12–72 hour soak — a hallmark of Kenyan processing known for enhancing brightness and complexity. The coffee is then transferred to raised beds and carefully turned throughout the drying period to encourage even moisture loss and preserve delicate fruit aromatics.
The resulting cup is vibrant, layered, and quintessentially Kenyan — opening with sparkling apple and red currant, balanced by lime-like acidity and a comforting brown sugar sweetness. A beautiful representation of the region’s bold yet refined flavour profile.
